Step 10 — Continued Inventory

Step Ten is the maintenance step — the daily discipline of keeping your side of the street clean before the debris accumulates again.

Steps One through Nine cleaned house. Step Ten keeps it clean. This is where the program becomes a daily practice rather than a one-time project. The word that deserves the most attention in this step is 'promptly.' Not eventually. Not when you feel like it. Promptly — because resentments and harm grow fast if left unattended. Old-timers say: a Tenth Step a day keeps the amends away. I have been doing this step every evening for years. It takes ten minutes and it changes everything.
