Step 3 — Decision

“Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.”

Step Three is a decision — not an achievement, not a feeling, not a permanent state. It is a choice made today, and made again tomorrow, and again the day after that.

The Third Step is the pivot point. Steps One and Two prepared you — you admitted the problem and opened to the possibility of help. Now Step Three asks you to actually do something with that opening. The word that matters most in this step is 'decision.' Not surrender, not faith, not transformation. A decision. You know how to make decisions. You have been making them your whole life. This one is simply the most important one you will ever make.
