Step 8Made a List

Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

🔥Moderate·Making the list is often easier than becoming willing. Both take real time and honesty.

Step Eight is about looking outward with the same honesty you turned inward in Step Four. The question has shifted from 'what has been done to me?' to 'what have I done, and to whom?'

Before we begin Step 8

Step Eight has two parts that are often blurred together: making the list, and becoming willing. Both take real work. Many people find the list easier than the willingness — especially when some of the names on the list are people they still resent, or people whose reaction they fear. The step does not say you have to feel ready. It says you have to become willing. Willing and ready are not the same thing, and willingness is all that is being asked of you right now.
